Jeremiah 29:11 “I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.” (MSG)
I love how I can look back in my life and see the hand of God in situations and things that He has done for me and other times I can clearly see where I walked away from Him. God knows what His plans are for each and every one of us. He knows why we have lived where we have, why we have done all the crazy things we have done, and He knows, more importantly, where we are going to do what we are going to do next. The problem is we have no clue what plans He has for us, unless we ask and seek His answer. You can not know what plans God has for you if you are not listening to Him. You can not listen to God without reading the word of God.
Many of us think we can get a sprinkle of Bible at church in Sunday and that is enough to sustain our relationship with Him over the rest of the week until Sunday rolls around again. Our relationship with God must be grounded in His word. God will use that foundation to speak to us.
If you are saying to God, “What am I supposed to be doing with my life?” The first step is to pray and read. Get your hands on a copy of the Bible that is of an easy reading translation. Now I am not going to get into the whys and why nots of Bible versions right now, I will later. For reading, especially if you are a new Christian, reading in a language you can comprehend will keep you focused and you won’t give up in frustration. I recommend “The Message”.
No matter what Bible you choose to read, YOU MUST READ IT! Read it every day! Start with John, then read the other Gospels, and the letters of Paul. As you read listen to God. Pray before during and after you read. Trust me, God will meet you there in HIs Word. You will be glad you took the time to read it. You will see God do amazing things in you life. Try it and let me know what happens!
